Prop malfunctions at concert
Katy Perry was left dangling above the audience at a concert in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night after a stage prop malfunctioned.
As part of her set at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, the popstar performed track Thinking of You while sitting on a model of the planet Saturn while suspended above her fans.
However, at the end of the song, a malfunction meant the prop failed to return to the floor, leaving Katy stuck in the sky.
Attempting to make light of the situation, she nervously said, "I'm gonna be stuck here forever!"
Katy then explained that stage crew were talking to her through an earpiece about the situation, and stagehands eventually arrived to lower the prop manually.
The star's ordeal wasn't over, however, as the prop was lowered above fans' seats and she had to tentatively leap into the crowd.
According to a concert reviewer from The Tennessean newspaper, the planet malfunction wasn't the only production difficulty at the gig, as a shooting star prop also failed to appear on cue.
Katy then jokingly sang the title of the Ethel Merman song, There's No Business Like Show Business.
Despite the mishaps, the 32-year-old seemed to enjoy herself, as after the concert she took to Twitter to write, "SMASHVILLE aka Nashville u were an INCREDIBLE time tonight! Thanks for teaching me how 2write (to write) a real song & sticking by me all these years."
The U.S. leg of her Witness: The Tour continues in St Louis, Missouri on Sunday (22Oct17), she is set to trek across North America before heading to Europe next May.
